Manage memory

Open Settings → Memory. Memory is account-level information reused across chats, not the same thing as the current conversation or project instructions.

  • Use memory controls reading and writing memory for your account. The server must also have memory available. Turning it off does not erase existing notes.
  • About you is your standing profile. Edit it and select Save profile. When memory is enabled, this profile is supplied to the assistant.
  • Learned memories are notes from conversations. Inspect them, edit incorrect entries or delete entries you no longer want retained.
  • Save new memories automatically makes new notes active immediately. With it off, new notes remain Proposed until you save or approve them and are not used yet.

Have Nawa remember something

Say it in the chat: "Remember that I want prices in AED." When you ask it to remember something, or state a lasting preference, correction, or fact about yourself or your work, the assistant proposes a note, and a card under its answer shows it with Save and Dismiss. A proposal must quote something you wrote in this chat; text the assistant read from web pages, files or tools cannot become a memory. The assistant proposes at most two notes per reply.

When a new note corrects an older one, the card says which note it replaces. Saving it retires the older note, and deleting it later brings the older note back. With Save new memories automatically on, the card shows the note already saved, with Delete to undo it. The card always shows the note's current state, including a change you make on the Memory tab.

Try adding a harmless preference, start a new chat and ask about it. Then remove the preference if it was only a test. Do not put credentials in a profile or memory note: information provided to a model is shared with the selected provider.

Deleting a memory does not remove its earlier appearances in chat history. Data and recovery explains the wider profile. Use AGENTS.md for file-scoped project rules; use memory for facts and preferences that should follow you across chats.
