How-to guide

Attach, create and open files

Use the paper clip to attach files, then describe what to do with them. Wait for attachment preparation before sending. Images, extracted document text and file tools provide different kinds of input; attaching a document does not guarantee every page fits in one model request. Ask for a complete read when completeness matters, and inspect any extraction errors.

Deliver a file

Ask, for example: “Create a Word document containing this summary and give me the file.” You can also ask Nawa to find a particular existing file in Downloads. Access outside a workspace can require permission.

Files selected as deliverables appear in compact file pills, with the file's icon and name. Multiple files form a grid. Supporting scripts and temporary files should not be presented as deliverables merely because they were created.

  • Open opens the file in Nawa's right drawer. What can be previewed depends on the format.
  • The adjacent chevron offers Open in native app, Open in Windows Explorer, and Open in drawer. A native app must be installed and associated with the file type.
  • Hover a clipped filename to reveal more of it. A moved or deleted file cannot be opened at its old path; ask Nawa to locate the current file.

The Word/PDF/Excel controls below an answer export that answer. They are separate from a file Nawa generated through its tools. Use the delivered file pill when you want the actual generated document, spreadsheet or presentation.

Keep a copy

Copy valuable deliverables to a folder you control before deleting the chat. Save runnable apps to Artifacts when you want a library snapshot; see Your first app. Files in an external project folder and files in the Nawa profile need separate backups.
